Reading Update #2

Sunday 28 February 2016

Hey Guys!!

I have actually keeping up really well with my reading apart from one week where I didn't read much at all. I started off this month reading a nice romance story and am ending the month on a thriller, I guess you could call it. I have found I have now been reading a lot more when I am having a bath, just before bed or when I am just having a bit of a chilled day.

Me Before You - Jojo Moyes This is the first book I read by Jojo Moyes and I can tell you that I will be reading many more by her. I absolutely loved this book and it did make me a bit weepy towards the end, and not many books do that to me. I felt so many different emotions reading this book and I can not wait to see if the film will do it any justice.

All That Glitters - Vicky Pattison Now I love reality TV shows and when a favourite starts branching off into different areas I will 9 times out of ten buy those items. I had this for Christmas and to be honest didn't really know what to expect from this as it is her first novel. I loved it, the perfect book for a summer by the pool or on the beach. It is a nice light read and I liked that she wrote about what she knew.

Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn I know I am a bit late to the party here but I have been meaning to read this for such a long time. Although I have done this backwards and watched the film first so I'm interested to see if they're going to be roughly the same. I have only just started this book and I am enjoying it so far.

So I have read a little less this month but will possibly pick it up a bit this month and try to read a few more.

Have you read any of these books?

Snapchat

Wednesday 24 February 2016

Hey Guys!!

Now I love social media, just as much as the next person, as a blogger I feel I have to be as present as I can be. I have Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. I always, without fail, jump on the bandwagon, so when Snapchat came around, of course I joined.

The thing I love about Snapchat is that it is instant and you really don't have to think about it. I love being able to see little bursts of peoples lives, I am quite nosey! I also like the fact you see peoples true personalities as like I said above it is instant, so when you think of posting you just post.

I'm not great at posting on my story all the time but I am trying to get better at it as I like to be present on social media. From a blogging aspect it is great to show people behind the scenes of upcoming posts, how I schedule things, when posts go live, etc. This is why I love following bloggers on there. From a personal aspect I love showing my personality through my story, how wierd my cat is, if I'm travelling somewhere, etc.

If you'd like to follow me and see how wierd my life can get, here's my snapcode :)

Also here are some people I love following as they are hilarious and I love seeing into their lives!!

jemmamorgan - the author behind Dorkface, I love her snaps, they are so funny and her cat is so cute!!

calvinharris - I love his music but he has me in hysterics on his stories!!

casparlee1994 - who doesn't love Caspar!!

clc_17 - I am obsessed with Geordie Shore, as you can tell, there are another 2 from it on this list. I like to think we would be best friends, she is so funny!!

gabblindley - I love with Gabby just how down to earth she is and Nelly is the cutest cat!!

jackhoward92 - I love Jack when he uses all the filters, it is just so hilarious!!

officialzoella - I love Zoe so much!! She is so pretty and funny!

gaz2270 - Again from Geordie Shore, I do love Gary, he isn't to bad on the eye either!

thehazelhayes - She has only just joined Snapchat and I can see it now, that I will just be constantly laughing!!

scottyfuckint - Can you tell I'm obsessed with Geordie Shore yet? I love him, even though his reputation is a bit of a ladies man, I secretly think he is a big softy lol!

Hope you enjoyed this post and let me know in the comments what you think of Snapchat!!

Also leave your usernames and I will follow you to!!

Hey Guys!!

This week I was back to the daily grind of life, going to work, chilling out and taking unplanned naps! I was feeling quite emotional as well but I'm putting that down to the fact I was extremely exhausted! Anyone else get really emotional when tired?

Top - I tried a Birds Eye Stir Your Senses and it was gorgeous, I was loving my hair after I washed it, it was so soft!

Bottom - For once took my umbrella on the right day, I've been loving the Snapchat filters, a nice cuppa & some cereal was a nice little treat after work.

Jammie Dodger Cupcakes

Thursday 18 February 2016

Hey Guys!!

As I had a week off work I thought I would take advantage of that and actually done some baking. I love baking and can't get enough of it but I really don't bake enough, I would like to change that.

This week I decided to do cupcakes but do them a little differently instead of doing my usual cupcakes with icing on top. I actually seen this recipe on another blog called Forever Baking and wanted to make my own. I did mine a little differently though as I done Red Velvet instead of Vanilla, you would never guess that I love Red Velvet.

So the ingredients you need are:

105ml Vegetable Oil
200ml Water
3 Eggs
Betty Crocker Red Velvet Mix

I put all of these ingredients in to a mixing bowl, as you do, and mixed it altogether.

While they baked I got everything ready to decorate the cakes. I used 175g Icing Sugar, 75g Butter, 3 tbsp Water, a few drops of Vanilla Essence, Strawberry Jam and Mini Jammie Dodgers.

The cupcakes took 20 minutes to bake at Gas Mark 4 and while they cooled I got the buttercream icing ready.

Once they had cooled I used a knife to cut little circles in the cakes so that I could add Jam to the middle, then added the icing.

Then for the finishing touch of the cupcakes I added a Mini Jammie Dodger to the top of each cake.

They turned out so well and so far all my family have really liked them and said they are delicious. I would make these again in a heart beat and I think they would be perfect for Valentines Day or a birthday party.

What do you think of these cupcakes?

Hey Guys!!

This Saturday just gone was another Rugby day so of course I watched it, then me and my sister went out for a few drinks. Luckily this was a planned night out so had already planned my outfit a few days before. Don't get me wrong I like a spontaneous night out but that's where I struggle to find clothes to wear!

Due to our weather not being the warmest, especially as we are still February, I decided on my black jumpsuit and then used a pink blouse I have had for ages as a jacket. I felt very smart in it as the jumpsuit is so 'clean cut' and I also feel very grown up wearing it, not like I'm 25 or anything.

Jumpsuit - New Look

Blouse - Primark

Shoes - Primark

Unfortunately these items are not sold in these stores now but you may be able to get something similar. Also sorry for the rubbish photo as I completely forgot to take a decent one so used my one off Snapchat.

Is this something you would wear?

This week has been nice and relaxing as I haven't had work and been able to do other things. I've really been feeling a lot happier recently as well and I am so glad I am back to that.

A little night out with my sister, done some baking and done a little shopping.

What have you done this week?

Hey Guys!!

If any of you follow rugby you will know that the 6 Nations began on Sunday and it also meant the start of my 10 days off with work. So why not get dolled up and celebrate by going out, this is what I done.

As it was a rugby day I didn't get to dressed up but I did do my go to make up look as well as curling my hair and putting it in a ponytail.

Jeans - Primark

Shoes - Primark

This was such a comfy outfit and this will probably be a regular outfit while the 6 Nations is on.

American Style Pancakes

Friday 5 February 2016

Hey Guys!!

I still can't believe it is February and I also can't believe it is Pancake Day next Tuesday. Now I don't know about you but I love pancakes, either with Maple Syrup or Nutella. So because it is coming up I thought I would try out a recipe I found on BBC Food for American Style Pancakes. Dad always tends to be the one to make them so maybe this year I will.

The ingredients you need are:
Plain Flour
Baking Powder
Caster Sugar
Salt
Butter
Milk
Egg

First thing to do is measure out 135g of flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt and 2 tbsp caster sugar. Then I sifted it all into a bowl.

Then in a separate jug I measured out 130ml milk, added the egg and 2 tbsp of melted butter, then lightly whisked it together.

I then added the milk mixture into the flour mixture and mixed it until it was a smooth batter.

While I left the batter to settle for a minute I melted a knob of butter at medium heat in a saucepan and started to bake/cook the pancakes.

The recipe is meant to make 4-6 small pancakes but I didn't have a small frying pan so I ended up with 2 large pancakes.

They taste really nice and you can taste the salt a bit in them. They would be amazing with some Nutella or Maple Syrup. I also found they were really quick to do so you could rustle some up for breakfast and have them at any time, not just Pancake Day.

What do you like on top of your pancakes?

How I Edit My Instagram Photos'

Wednesday 3 February 2016

Hey Guys!!

Like most people, I love Instagram and love sharing a little part of my day with everyone. I used to just post whenever I wanted to but now have more of a theme going on. Every other day I post a picture of an object and then on the other days I post a 'selfie'. I love my theme as it's consistent and when you look at my feed it flows really nicely now.

So today I thought I would share with you how I edit my photos'. I do the same on every photo and also I don't edit them before I put them on Instagram as my phone camera is so good now.

The first thing I do is the Brightness and I put this up to 30.

Then I go onto the Warmth and also put this up to 30.

I then go into the Colours section and for shadows I use blue (as you can see below) at 30, then the highlights I use a lighter blue at 20.

Then I move along the line to Highlights and put that on 30 to.

I then do Shadows next and put that to 30.

To finish off the editing I then Sharpen up the image and again I put it to 30.

Here you can see the difference between the original (top) and the photo I then put on Instagram (bottom)

And that is basically all I do. I don't always add Brightness and Highlights as sometimes the picture comes out pretty good and doesn't need a lot of editing. I think with the blue tones it looks a lot cooler and does give my feed a nice, cool theme.

If you would like to have a nose at my Instagram & follow me, you can find me at planetvikki_x Also if you have Instagram leave your links below and I will have a little nose.

How do you edit your photo's?
