Planet Vikki Recommends: Maenllwyd Inn

Wednesday, 26 August 2015

Hey Guys!!

I love food, and we have decided to try somewhere new every month if we can. Other than that I like writing posts on places I've been and who doesn't love reading about food?

This pub was actually recommended to Llewellyn by someone he works with and I'm so glad we went. It's about 20 minutes from where we live so it's relatively easy to get to, we live in Newport. It is situated in such a lovely place as the views were gorgeous and you can go on a little woodland walk as well.

The name of the pub is the Maenllwyd Inn and this was the food we had.

Isn't the plate gorgeous? I wanted to take it home. Anyway I had the Chicken, Pancetta and White Wine Pie and it was gorgeous. The pastry was so soft and the chicken was delicious. Llewellyn tried getting me to try the Leeks but I don't like them. Even Llewellyn tried a bit of the pie and he thought it was nice to. I didn't finish it though as it is quite filling.

Of course I couldn't not have a dessert and I chose to have the Millionaire's Cheesecake. It looks amazing doesn't it? I never used to like cheesecake but I tried it a while ago and found I liked it. It was so creamy and the ice cream was so nice. I definitely recommend this if you go.

This was Llewellyn's dessert of Vanilla & Mint Choc Chip ice cream and Mango Sorbet with a Mint Leaf on top. He really enjoyed it and I must say the Mango Sorbet was delicious.

The three pictures above is the way some of the pub is decorated, it seriously gave me such pinterest feels, gave me ideas for my home. We were sat in the conservatory part of the pub and it was so nice. It did get a bit warm in there and a wasp decided to fly around and drink my wine!!

Now I will share with you pictures from our walk, there's not many as it was nice to just go for a walk. Also please ignore the way I stand in the outfit post, I seriously need to work on my posture. Do you look at photos and hate the way you stand sometimes?

Review: Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder

Friday, 3 April 2015

Hey Guys!!

A while a go I went on a little shopping trip, as you do when you have nothing else to do. I wanted to get this highlighter before but they seemed to never have it in store but this time they did.

I have already got the Pink Shimmer Highlighter and absolutely love it so thought why not try the Iridescent Gold. Plus I have seen a few posts on this one so have really wanted to try it out myself.

I love the size of the packaging on these highlighters as there is a lot of product and you don't use a lot of it at all, so it's definitely going to last me a long time. Saying that as I said before I already have the Pink Shimmer and I bought that nearly 2 years ago and have hardly used it all. The price of it is also amazing at £3, so for how long it lasts its definitely worth it.

As you can see in the picture above the pigmentation of this is amazing so you really don't need to use a lot of it at all. I just use it on my cheek bones and sometimes put a little bit down the middle of my nose.

Overall I think this is an amazing product and if you would like to try it out you can get it HERE or you can go to any Superdrug store.

Hope you enjoyed this little review!!

Review: MUA Undress Your Skin Flawless Skin Primer

Wednesday, 25 March 2015

Hey Guys!!

I have been quite good with trying new things when it comes to make-up and new looks, etc. I wanted to try out a new primer as I was getting a bit bored used to the one I already have, so of course I ended up on the internet!!

I actually seen this on the MUA website which you can go to HERE if you fancy a nose around. What's great about this Primer is it is only £5 which I think is a bargain!!

It is only a small bottle but out of 1 'squirt' it covers my whole face perfectly. What I didn't realise about this is that it is oil based so it leaves my skin feeling very velvety, soft, as it says on the bottle.

I have been using this a while now and this is definitely going to be my go to Primer from now on.

If you would like to try this out yourself you can purchase it HERE or in any Superdrug store.

I hope you enjoyed this little review!!

Think Pink ox

Wednesday, 14 January 2015

Hey Guys!!

On Sunday I decided to have a pamper evening, which there will be a post going up on Friday of it. Anyway I wanted to use one of my LUSH bath bombs that I had for Christmas as I did have a few.

I always find it hard to pick one so decided on the one my Mum got me called Think Pink. I have never used this one before so was intrigued as to what it would be like. The smell was gorgeous and came across floral and sweet to me.

I put it in once I had completely run my bath. It fizzed away quite quickly and left behind little hearts, the smell still lingered which was nice as it made me feel relaxed. With the colour of the water I was a little disappointed as I was expecting it to go really pink but I still liked it. Once I got out of the bath my skin felt so soft and I would get it again but I wouldn't rush to get it.

Have you used this one before?

I hope you enjoyed this little review!!

Review: The Wolf of Wall Street

Friday, 7 February 2014

Hey Guys!!

Last night we decided to go to the cinema as we haven't been for ages and decided on seeing The Wolf Of Wall Street. There had been so many amazing reviews about it and so we went to check it out.

This film is about Jordan Belfort (Leonardo Dicaprio) who first off gets a stock brokers job on Wall Street then ends up setting up his own firm. Then when his firm gets bigger and he gets wealthier, its years of parties, drugs and sex which then leads to one of his cofounders gets arrested and tells all to the FBI, which ends with Jordan being arrested. He does cooperate with the FBI which means his jail sentence was reduced from 20 years to 36 months and now teaches seminars to the general public. Jonah Hill also stars in this film.

I am so glad we did as it definitely lived up to its reviews, to me it felt like it was better than the reviews I'd seen :) It amazed me that this was based on a true story because some of the things in the film were just unbelievable ha ha

It was an array of laughs and gasps and just all round amazingness, yes I just made up that word!!! I really don't know what else to say about this film it is just so good!!! I definitely recommend this film to anyone who would like to see it. I also think that Leonardo Dicaprio definitely deserves an Oscar for this film, it was also nice to see Jonah Hill in a more adult themed film.

So my rating for this film would have to be 10/10

Hope You Enjoyed This Post!!

Book Review: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Sunday, 2 February 2014

Hey Guys!!

I actually managed to finish my book that I was reading and thought I would give you a review on what I thought about it :)

As you can tell by the title I read Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins.

Blurb: Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are still alive. Katniss should be relieved, but now there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol - a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create.

As the nation watches Katniss and Peeta, the stakes are higher than ever. One false move and the consequences will be unimaginable.

I absolutely loved this book, I literally couldn't put it down, what with the twists and turns throughout the book. I found as I was reading it I was going through so many emotions and was literally gasping at certain points of the book. It was just fantastic, I really can't describe it much more than that, it was absolutely fantastic.

I am now on the last book of the series, so hoping its just as exciting as this one :)

I give it 5/5 and would definitely recommend it :)

Book Review: The Hunger Games

Tuesday, 26 November 2013

Hey Guys!!

I have finished reading The Hunger Games and thought I would let you know what I thought of it. This is going to be a long post so I do hope you will enjoy it and obviously I know other people may have different opinions to me about this book, so let me know what you think as well if you have read it :)

At first I thought the same as the film, it was a little bit slow to start, but I think that is because you read the title of the book and expect it to go straight into The Hunger Games. I definitely thought the writing was fantastic, everything was described so great which I was then able to picture completely in my head :)

When she introduces Katniss Everdeen you get the immediate impression that she cares very much for her family, as she goes hunting to make sure that there is food on the table for them and then when she volunteers in place of her sister, that then confirms my first impression. I do love that she is smart, independent and determined to survive, which obviously throughout the book you want her to anyway. What was your fist impressions of Katniss?

When Peeta Mellark was introduced I wasn't actually sure what to make of his character because she doesn't actually introduce him until he has been picked at the Reaping. During the run up to the Games I thought he was sweet and caring, also that he wasn't very confident in himself as he didn't think he was going to win. Then when he was in the Games and he had teamed up with the Careers I thought ooooo you sneaky boy, as I thought he was going to try and take everyone out to win the Games himself. Then when he saves Katniss life during the tracker jacker part I switched back to liking the character :) What was you first impressions of Peeta?

I also loved in the beginning of the book how hard Katniss Everdeens' life is at the beginning and then she is literally thrown in the deep end when she has to go to the Capitol. When you read it, its like you can picture how much of a stark difference it is between District 12 and the Capitol. Its like you can picture her having to search the woods for hours for food to feed her family, or at least something she can trade. Then when she gets to the Capitol you can then see the stark difference as she can have whatever food she wants at the touch of a button, they have stylists to prepare them for the run up to the Games and just the luxuriousness of being there. As you read it though you can feel the anticipation of the run up to the Games, its like as you read it you know in the back of your mind that they have to still go through the games. What did you think of the differences between District 12 and the Capitol?

During the part of the book which is when they are in the Games, I felt tense with anticipation as to what was going to happen and felt I had to keep reading so that I knew what happened next. When they first got in and all the things they needed were presented in front of them I couldn't believe how much of a 'blood bath' it was, especially when you have a vivid imagination like me. Its like you expect it because its a game where you fight until the death and until there's only one left but you don't realise how bloody it is. I felt very tense when the Gamemakers decided to draw the Careers and Katniss together with the fire because I just thought oh god don't get hit or burnt and felt like I was on the edge of my seat. I was so glad then that she managed to get up that tree and then was able to get away from the Careers with the tracker jacker nest even though she got hurt in the process. What did you think of this part of the book?

I don't want to go into to much detail about what happens through the book as you may not have read it yet so I am going to now round it up to my conclusion :)

Overall I thought the writing was fantastic, everything was described in so much detail and in a way that you could picture it all throughout reading which was also fantastic :) I also liked that with all the characters you could relate to them in some sort of way or that you know someone with those characteristics which made me enjoy the book so much more.

I would definitely recommend this book to anybody that enjoys this sort of book and if you haven't read it yet and would like to you can get it from Amazon, WHSmith, Waterstones and anywhere that sells books really. Let me know what you think of the book as well :)

Hope You're Having A Good Week!!!
